Sans, Jan & I

'Sans, Jan and I' is a publication that highlights an observation collection—by RMIT's Master of Communication Design students—on typography. The essays selected are based on type projects that mainly use modern sans serif and embody the principles of modernism according to early Jan Tschichold's teachings.

Gill Sans and Sneaky are integral to Sans Jan and I, showcasing diverse facets of typography. Gill Sans ties to Jan Tschichold’s work on Penguin Composition Rules (1935), marking his shift from modernism to Classicism, reflecting the historical evolution of design in your publication. Sneaky, a playful take on Times New Roman with tiny hands inspired by the 80s "Circle Game," highlights the humorous and cultural aspects of typography, adding a contemporary touch and emphasizing the varied ways typefaces convey meaning and engage audiences.
